Reloadable Artillery Shells

As the name might suggest, a reloadable mortar kit is a set of fireworks consisting of a reloadable tube and 6 or more shells with a long fuse that hangs over the top of the tube. Each box of shells comes with at least one mortar tube made of cardboard, fiberglass or a special plastic material. The artillery shell is inserted into the mortar tube. The fuse is lit, igniting a black powder charge, and the shell shoots high into the sky, where it explodes with an impressive aerial display. The type of shell determines what the aerial display will look like. Some artillery shells produce multicolored, glittery stars. Others produce the classic, 4th of July peony fireworks shape.

Because artillery shells release a lot of energy when ignited, it's important to weigh the tube down with bricks or other heavy objects for stability. Be sure to dump out the debris from each artillery shell between uses, and wait at least 45 seconds.

The max load a consumer fireworks shell can have is 60 grams of powder, so if you're looking for the biggest, loudest shells look for our 60 gram max loads!
